And the saying is true, after all…look good, feel good! When asking friends and colleagues, it was clear that the most highly recommended makeup artist in town is Sydney Goldstein. With an impressive resume working in LA on stars including Reese Witherspoon, and with over two decades of experience, I could not wait to get a session with her. At the time she was working at a local salon and upon meeting her I not only fell in love with her work, but also with her as a person. Sydney’s talent is only matched by her kind heart and approachability. She listens to her clients needs, helps them achieve their goals, and custom-tailors every session. When she acquired her own salon space at the Safeway shopping center at 48th and Indian School, I was downright giddy. “I get to have Sydney, right down the street from me?!,” I thought to myself. And much to my delight, her salon is everything I imagined it would be. Aesthetically it is incredibly chic but has this unique warmth to it. When I asked what her goal was with the space she said, “It has always been my vision to create a quality salon that resembles spending time with your best friends. I envisioned my space like a cross between Steel Magnolias and La Grande Orange.” To be frank, she absolutely nailed it.
Her staff is talented, friendly, and always makes everyone feel welcome. In addition to offering services that include hair styling, makeup applications and lessons, eyelash extensions and lifts, lip waxing, dermaplaning, microblading, and an aesthetician for facials, Sydney offers a wide variety of products, clothing, jewelry and fun gifts. All of her products are clean and devoid of additives and chemicals. I pop in regularly to see what she has added to her clothing line and what the must-haves are for my makeup bag and bathroom vanity.
